Advocacy

The Arc of Dallas provides a voice for people with intellectual and related developmental disabilities in the community. From the construction of a new terminal at DFW airport, to the abuse prevention counsel, an Arc representative is at the table voicing the concerns and interests of people with disabilities.

In addition, The Arc Dallas works in collaboration with The Arc of Texas and The Arc of the United States to support legislative advocacy. Legislators often express the need to hear from families and constituents rather than agencies. To keep constituents informed, The Arc gathers names for emailed legislative alerts, along with information about decisions that are in the process of being made in local, state and national governments.

Arc advocates include staff, board of directors, caregivers, family members, professionals, community volunteers and anyone who is interested in protecting the rights the rights of and understanding of people with intellectual and related disabilities. To become an advocate or to become part of the list serve for the Legislative alert, email your name and contact information to Drew Dixon, ddixon@arcdallas.org
